Tom Cruise Agreed To Pay $400,000 For Child Support For Suri

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has settled their divorce rumors and he has agreed to pay $400,000 every year as child support for Suri until she turns 18.

Based on their prenuptial agreement, Katie Holmes will not get any lump sum payout as the Mission Impossible star’s wealth is protected by a strict prenuptial agreement.

Holmes and Cruise said in July they had reached an agreement less than two weeks into their headline-dominating divorce case (they were married in Italy in 2006). Their lawyers and representatives wouldn’t disclose details. Records filed in a New York City court indicate the case was closed Monday.

The experts said that Cruise is paying less than a court would have awarded if the divorce would have gone to trial.

Holmes, 33, will next be seen in “Dead Accounts” on Broadway. She’ll also appear in a modern adaptation of Chekhov’s “The Seagull” and will soon begin filming “Molly,” which she co-wrote and will produce.

The pair have also agreed that their daughter will not attend boarding school, a clear reference to concerns that she would be sent someplace that teaches Scientology.

Katie Holmes has rights to full custody of Suri while Tom Cruise has been only granted visitation rights over the child. “The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed,” Holmes’ lawyer said.

“We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life,” the lawyer said. Had the 6-year marriage lasted for 11 years, Holmes would have automatically received half of Cruise’s wealth.
