The singer star Jennifer Lopez said her ex-driver resorted to blackmail after the singer didn’t use a security team he demanded $2.8 million or else he’d tell the media and authorities about secrets he overheard while driving her here and there.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles last week, Lopez, her manager and her production company allege that an attorney representing driver Hakob Manoukian demanded that, “unless Manoukian was paid $2.8 million, he would disclose sensitive and personal information that he allegedly heard while driving Lopez.”

Manoukian’s lawsuit alleges he had hired two police officials to assist with security during a music video produced by Def Jam Records. A night before the police officers arrived to investigate the work, Manoukian said he was told to deny their services and that Lopez’s manager was gaining responsibility for hiring her personal security.

Jennifer Lopez’s suit read that Manoukian, “became hostile and angry because he mistakenly and unreasonably believed he had the unqualified right to designate the security team and profit from any budgetary allocations for such security.”

Lopez’s representatives were not reached to comment on her lawsuit but her attorney, Alex Weingarten, declined to comment, by saying that the “cross-complaint speaks for itself.”

The altercations between the two, Lopez and her former driver dates back to 2011, shortly after Lopez announced her plans to split from singer Marc Anthony.

The CNN reported that Mnaoukian left his job with Anthony’s company, ARI Enterprises Ltd., and offer for work with Lopez in July 2011, according to Lopez’s lawsuit, which tells he quit his career “under false pretenses” after one month of services.

The actual damages seeking Lopez for $20 million including unspecified exemplary and punitive damages, injunctive relief preventing Manoukian form further harassing her and court costs.
